DDM Agriculture continues expansion after acquisition

Long established Land Agency, DDM Agriculture, based in Brigg, is to expand both its team and client base, as its recently acquired subsidiary company JH Pickup and Co in Bawtry is to merge with the agricultural division of Doncaster based agency Merryweathers. The move has been made with a view to enhancing the long term future of both businesses, by expanding the range of professional services offered, at a time when the farming industry continues to face new challenges.  DDM provide professional advice for rural businesses across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and offer specialist advice in the growing renewables energy sector. The new business will operate under the JH Pickup & Co name and will supply professional land agency services to farms and businesses from Wakefield to Nottingham.

Merryweather’s Senior Land Agent Peter Horne will move to JH Pickup following the merger and will continue to manage the area surrounding Doncaster with the support of the wider team. Peter said: “I believe this is an excellent move for both businesses; ensuring our clients have long term access to first class land agency and property consultancy advice."

As well as Peter’s move, JH Pickup and Co also welcomes Land Agent Tom Cooper to the team. Tom is returning to his Yorkshire roots to join the firm following more than 8 years as the resident Land Agent at the 15,000 acre Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire. Tom said: “I’m very much looking forward to returning to South Yorkshire and taking on the role at JH Pickup & Co as the business expands as part of DDM Agriculture.”

Managing Director of DDM Agriculture Giles Johnston said, “Tom and Peter both bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the JH Pickup & Co team and we are very pleased to welcome them to our growing team. As the prospect of Brexit draws closer, whatever the outcomes and challenges, we believe there will be a continuing need for focus on rural development and growth in precision farming methods and as such, there will be a requirement for experienced and personalised advice. The expansion of DDM Agriculture is a strategic move which, not only strengthens our client base, but gives each subsidiary the benefit of a wider set of skills available from a bigger team of agents within the group.”
